roundabout, 2011

Spiral (permanent installation), Kleine Brogel, Belgium (supported by the Kunstcel Vlaams Bouwmeester)
At first glance, the red-and-white tube seems familiar. It appears to be a technical system for creating greater visibility and safety for traffic. It encircles the roundabout in a double movement, and has no beginning and no end.
It is only after you have approached and circled around the roundabout that the object reveals itself to be an artwork, and it becomes apparent that we are being misled. For a moment, the environment seems less predictable and there is room for wonder. The tube goes up and down in an endless movement, thus transforming the roundabout into a game.
